This has also been a hell of week, hasn't it.
I'll start with the administratrivia: I've put "**" in each existing section of each list to delineate the point of the split. If I make any new sections going forward I'll find some way to indicate they are post-split additions.
As for tracking the influences of potential new members: I'm going to cross that bridge when I come to it, but I'm inclined to start lists only for new "permanent" members (whatever that might mean), should there be any for either band.
( brief thoughts on hindsight being 20/20 )
And on that note: onwards!
Interestingly (if unsurprisingly) Ryan was the least chatty this week. Aside from reassuring us that he had not died (nor was he done) and that it was his evil twin who had been caught misbehaving, he mostly shared pictures and studio updates. Though there was one Twain reference, one Beatles song, and one mangling of a famous line from A League of Their Own. I am 50% convinced that the text accompanying the Venice Beach shot is also song, but I can't find it. I'll add it to my "mysteries" file (along with Thromby) and see if it is ever revealed.
Brendon had more of a classic rock than '90s rock theme this week, with one excursion into nursery rhymes. Though, as I learned, the Itsy Bitsy Spider is also part of a Carly Simon song (Coming Around Again) I'm about 90% sure he just meant the nursery rhyme. He also brought in some David Sedaris, and some movies. (If he does see Bruno, I'll be interested in his reaction.) Also, he loves us, no matter the situation. We ♥ you too, Brendon. Also, he changed his background from the Camp Extravaganza to a lovely (Hawaiian?) waterfall.
The best part of this week, though, was Spencer sparking back up and tweeting about music and ridiculous internet and/or television shows. (Again, won't lie: he's totally my most favorite, and it was something of a relief to see him acting "normal" in some way.) I have a sneaking suspicion that he's a regular at Stereogum as well as horror blogs, because I found both The Clientele single (a free, legal download and also the cover, which, he's right, it *is* amazing) and Imogean Heap there. I also continue to be kind of baffled by his taste in comedy, but, at least he's having fun? Musically he seems to be settled in contemporary art-rock with some excursions into pop and classic rock.
And then there is Jon, who changed his icon to yet another distorted picture of his face, and who seems to be photo-documenting the recording process as well as reassuring us he's still eating. He did also drop some Twain on us, as well as some Edison. And, speaking of mysteries, I'm adding "Cape Town" to that file as well. All I see in that picture of the hallway is . . . a hallway. The text isn't a song, as far as I can tell. Anyway, musically, he's still heavy on the Beatles, though Billy Joel may have made another appearance. Finally, he's also ventured into the world of funny YouTube videos, though the one he chose to share was, in my opinion, not actually all that funny.
