Panic! at the Disco

Spencer remains a sexy sphinx; Brendon noted his 100,000+ followers (a huge jump from where he was earlier this summer!); may possibly have had to look up "incorrigible" (he didn't quite use it properly in context); seemed to be pleased it was raining; and his best girl beat him at Wii bowling, which he attributed to her wearing bowling shoes while playing. (They are so ridiculous and adorable. ♥Brendon & Sarah♥)

The Like

Went out on their West Coast mini-tour - in addition to various show announcements, there was some wordplay with fans and also Hunter Burgan of AFI (!), a note about listening to the Beach Boys, a comment about being able to fry an egg in the van, and finally a tweet about Annie learning French and Z sleeping while the others drove/DJ'd that later got deleted. They also shared a picture of some fans; asked for shopping advice in Portland; shared three videos from their ICA (London) performance; wished both John Lennon and Alex Greenwald a happy birthday; shared a picture from a Kate Spade party they apparently went to/played at; departed on their mini-European tour; shared a blog post full of pictures from the Paris show; rode in a water taxi in Rotterdam & have video to prove it (Z's expression at the end is really funny); hung out with an elephant in Hamburg; someone's (Z's?) inner 12 yr old was ecstatic to be at at Nickleodeon with slime and later playing a show with Jamiroquai; shared a Kate Spade video; and finally noted the passing of Ari Up (The Slits) with sadness.

NB: There was also tweet with a link to blog post I think from Brussels, that was in French, which they seem to have since deleted. When I read it, the review was positive towards them but - and this is based on a somewhat fractured Google translation - did seem to have a kind of strange, gross undertone of "if you don't like them you must be gay" which may or may not be why they deleted it.

The Young Veins

Jon: Visited with Than Lu (Black Gold) in Chicago; was his usual elliptical self about "space time" and "rhyme zone" which I suppose means he's writing while in hibernation, or is trying to, since the "rhyme zone" tweet ended in "psyche!"; asked the internet how to deal with canine hiccups; posted the question of broth v. stock; told us the Brooklyn Bridge shuts down . . . when the Brooklyn Bridge was actually shut down, which was a little bit strange, getting my local news from Chicago; referenced "Nose over Tail" by Alkaline Trio; was disappointed that his local station no longer has Roseanne reruns (I'm assuming, since there hasn't been a new season in, uh, 13 years now) and finally, fixed a hole.

Andy: RT'd Jon's engagement announcement; sicced his followers on the Dolph Ziggler (wrestler) for unstated crimes (but may have been Ziggler referring to HIS followers as "Bondage Beauties, I don't know); explained he had only been following Ziggler for advice on hair and picking up "broads" (protip: don't use the word broads, Andy, and you'll go far!); introduced us to Douglas S Ford, his favorite drummer; RT'd their Good Morning America segment; wished Alex Greenwald a happy birthday and changed his userpic to himself dressed as (or like) Greenwald; had a dream about Sister Act in which Sister Mary Lazarus spanked him; wrote a song; cut all of his hair off; was disappointed that it was too short to "donate to cancer" which I am taking to mean "give to Locks of Love"; and finally, celebrated his birthday (Oct. 22).

Nick: Shared a video by Lil P-Nut the 7yr old rapper; told us all to follow CineFamily, a LA theater; rec'd Kárin Tatoyan; shared a video clip of a Guitar Wolf show that included a human pyramid (sadly not the New Model Army kind, though); was forced to take shelter from the rain in a mall in Glendale; shared a video of Paul Stanley's stage banter (ewwwwwwww); was excited that food stamps are accepted at the farmers market; asked us to vote for Jail Weddings in a contest; was underwhelmed by Tokyo Police Club and sorry to miss Cass McCombs; expressed a desire to cover The Trashmen's "Surfin' Bird" with PeeWee Herman as the bird; shared a link to the Hungover Owls tumblr;

RT'd a friend congratulating the Shinnecock Indians and the Native American Rights fund; had some insomnia in advance of racing the sun in the morning; described Carl Paladino as a "walking burning cross" and said he shouldn't be allowed to run for anything; had the Ramones "Pet Cemetary" on repeat; responded to Ryan's tweet about armor with a comment about getting things on sale at Armor Plus; shared a picture of a creepy graveyard, probably at a haunted house; likes Sinatra's music with whiskey in a classy bar, but doesn't think he and The Chairman would get on IRL because "I feel that any man who hits women out of ventilation shouldn't be considered a charmer";

asked if anyone had the hookup for Knotts Berry Farm "Halloween thing"; made a (really fantastic!) Halloween mix & shared it with the Internets; got mugged (:((((((((); expressed importance of not trying to negotiate when someone is holding a gun on you; reminded everyone to register to vote in California or else shut up about the mismanaged budget; shared the American Idol audition of The Panther; was frustrated by MySpace editing tools; went to Jail Weddings' listening party; and was mildly grumpy about traffic congestion caused by a presidential visit and police brutality march.

Ryan: Noted the vast number of beards in Pioneertown; was irritated that Michael Runion didn't offer him the free tickets to Belle & Sebastien; likes to get all of his politics from Zebrahead (which seems to be a pop-punk band?); ate buffalo wings in honor of their birthday and noted some cool things happened in 1964; promoted the book signing of his friend Benjamin Font (you guys, I have SO MANY thoughts on Mr. Font that they need their own post. GOOD LORD.); swore off gin; noted that life's a bear, then you die, and later that it was "real radiohead" outside (rainy? depressing? what?); told a friend that he would sign anything, including B. Font's book;

has been talking outloud to himself more often; referenced AC/DC ("Highway to Hell") and seemed to perhaps be noting that his devil-may-care lifestyle had not worked out so well ("I got in a fatal car crash" . . . hmmmmm . . .); overheard someone walking and being sick at the same time; shared links for GMA and Daytrotter segments; did an interview with DJ Rossstar (though he forgot to go on the first appointed day, so there was a rematch; also I have a lot of thoughts about all of those INCREDIBLY AWKWARD QUESTIONS); accidentally killed his evil twin; also wished Alex Greenwald (who is Thromby! yes! Mystery partially solved!) and John Lennon a happy birthday;

made a comment about doing everything but boiling his mouthguard that makes me think he might actually be taking/has taken up hockey again; RT'd a show announcement for Mark Ronson & The Business INTL and the Etsy shop announcement for B. Font (SO MANY THOUGHTS, SO MANY, OH MY GOD); noted that fun. is fun and quoted someone describing them (?) as the next Everclear ( . . . really? Because I liked Everclear . . .); conflated Chumbawumba and Mark Twain; noted that armor is expensive; promised to bury Greenwald with all of his stuff; had a slightly sleep-delerious conversation with the Internet while in the presence of a stinky blanket and, possibly, Greenwald; liked the clowny (?!) weather;

promoted Mark Ronson + band again; noted that sometimes you have to wear your friends' stench; asked the Internet for a copy of the picture of him as ET and Alex as Elliot; participated in a dumb Twitter meme; saw Ronson & co. at the Wiltern; something about Halloween feet that I suspect was missing a picture; was grumpy about someone clapping outside his house; spent a night in with some drinks and (I'm guessing) Discovery Channel's Shark Week, or at least a program about Great White sharks; asked the internet for a picture of Bon Jovi giving the double thumbs up (Google Image search, Ryan, it's your friend!); noted, I think, that he was sick and it was rainy; something about needing a coach; watched Monster Swamp and commented that Nigel Marven is out of his mind;

mistook a child for a beagle puppy; RT'd in support of the LA Kings hockey team and Vincent Perini's comment that Trader Joe's new logo is stupid looking; announced he's playing with Michael Runion today and asked people to bring fruit and vegetables (??); noted that dinner is dangerous; and finally shared a picture of himself with a (friend's?) dog.
