Brendon Oh, hey, I'd forgotten all about the Oatmeal Cream Pie song he did with Jacob Givens. Other things: Wished John Feldman a happy birthday with a picture of an iPhone and iPad; told the fans they (we) are loved (twice); told Spencer to back off his Wheat Thins; appreciated an amp; various updates on parts of the album being complete; shipped a package somewhere and had the pen marks on his hand to prove it; possibly experienced on of CA's rolling blackouts; was hungry and I guess, maybe, by himself? I don't know how to parse the zombie apocalypse/2nd coming connection; went to China and also the DMV; and appreciated a Gawker video about real-life superheroes.

Spencer: Shared a picture of a bunch of tambourines and referenced Mr. Tambourine Man (Dylan); went on a "mandate" (his word!) with Brendon for sandwiches; also wished John Feldman a happy birthday; various updates about parts of the album being complete; stayed up late watching Wimbledon and reading the Wheat Thins website (cable tv and the internet: solace of insomniacs everywhere?); also appreciated an amp; got a cowbell, referenced Don't Fear the Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult); went on a long bike ride due to car being fixed and felt like Gumby; and rt'd Pete Wentz's tweet about the Invisible Children worker who was killed by terrorists.

. . . yeah, that nickel is long gone. I don't even know where I'd put it now, calendar-wise. Maybe a back-to-school thing? "What We Did on our (Endless) Summer Vacation"?

Or not.

Anyway. I'm going to sit down later this weekend and gather up the highlights, but basically the only big notes for right now are that Jon has unfollowed everyone (again), is/will be moving, and was apparenty attacked outside his house; and Ryan spent at least two weeks at Greenwald's house (with Greenwald's housemate) while Greenwald was away. (For those of you as care: Greenwald: still in London; has a chest cough; was at one time the voice of a recycling dinosaur which was evidently something of a touchstone of a CA childhood but that I had never heard of, and also, wow, when his voice broke it broke, goodness.) Also Nick Murray locked his Twitter down for a couple of days towards the end of July/early August, but has since unlocked it again, so maybe that was a mis-click.

Tangentially, there's some interesting The Like canon filtering up via non-Twitter sources, i.e. press interviews with the band. For example: He's Not A Boy is about Johnny Borrell, the lead singer of Razorlight?? And also: Narcissus in a Red Dress is NOT about Charlotte? In fact she was in the band when it was written?? THE PLOT, IT THICKENS!

[Poll #1572389]

I haven't started any more lists for anyone, but apparently parsing their tweets is something my brain does compulsively now. I'm still mulling over starting lists for other people, too. (Mostly The Like, though I periodically I do contemplate starting one for Pete, or Jepha, or Mikey Way, if he ever gets chatty again.) The main problem is that the list does, after a point, become incredibly unwieldy, but ALSO that commentary without a list seems incomplete.

Meanwhile, while I'm stewing all of that over, here's some commentary:

the young veins )

panic )

Travie )

i feel like I should award this story some sort of special prize for getting jossed twice, and the first jossing making it more plausible, not less. It's another one I started last winter, showed to [livejournal.com profile] sinsense, and then put aside, possibly due to school.

Then Panic split. This actually made it make sense, as it was a band-reuniting fic, with some bonus h/c thrown in. (The working title was, for a time, "Highly Unlikely Warped Tour".) So, meanwhile, life goes on, stuff happens, etc etc, and then Bob departs from MCR, jossing me again, and also creating a (possibly minor) problem. In the sense that a Bob + Brendon friendship was supposed to be a key subplot. I gave serious thought to using it for BBB, but then I decided canon was too unsettled and also there was just too much potential for sad.

(re: BBB, for those of you as may be wondering: the detective fairies, along with tentacles, puppies and West Texas, is on my list to write this summer.)

In any case, here's some bits and pieces from what has now been re-titled You Could Always Sell Any Dream To Me:

the beginning )

Bob and Brendon have a conversation )

Ryan and Brendon have a moment in the middle of the night )

a drum circle, a walk back to the bus, scraped knees and sleepy boys )
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Okay. So, as all y'all may have noticed, my favorite genre to write in is crack. I started this one in January of last year, then somewhere around May I got distracted by tentacles. (Which, by the way, is languishing at just under 6K, but I'm finishing that one, come hell or high water.) Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] sinsense also bravely read this one and said many useful things; I've tinkered with it quite extensively as a result, and any errors are entirely my fault.

Summary: LOL HONEY I SHRUNK (MOST OF) THE BAND. Yeah. Just under 4K of P!aTD go on vacation and all of them except for Brendon get accidentally tiny-sized. As far as I am aware there should be no triggery content.

Brendon frowned at the row of spices, tapping his fingers at the edge of the label marked 'ground cloves.' )
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Warning: Contains mentions of blood in a context that could be triggery for self-harm.

Author's note: I got almost 2K into this before I abruptly ran out of story. The premise: Brendon wakes up a cat boy, and does not enjoy the experience.

He was vibrating more than usual, fists clenched at his sides, and his eyes were a little too bright. )
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Enjoyed birthday activities that included a Butch Walker concert and meeting Matthew McConaughey, caught only a glimpse of Dragonheart, shared a link to a Funny or Die video written by Diablo Cody, and observed Mother's Day.

Spencer: After weeks of radio silence, posted a picture of Brendon in the studio, and in response to a comment from Zack, shared link to a "self-defense" video on YouTube that stars two dudes and a rolled-up magazine. He also said he was "back" on Twitter, so perhaps he will be more chatty in the future.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Wished his father a happy birthday and the internets a happy "irish holiday"; referenced Seinfeld, Billy Crystal and Regis Philbin; watched a Bil Maher special and some puppies playing; shared a video of a gentleman who is VERY fond of his motorcycle; had some Thai food; was sorry he couldn't be with Keith Buckley in Vegas, and was apparently amused by a music-geek joke on a t-shirt that I totally didn't get at all, and the comments on the Twitpic were no help. On a related note, musical selections were from Yeasayer, Local Natives and Lagwagon. I was especially amused by the Simon and Garfunkel cover fron Local Natives, specifically, the dude(s) playing drums on the trees.

Spencer: I think I'm just going to call him Silent Bob from now on. He tweeted twice, once about MTV March Madness, and once to share a picture of a t-shirt that said "Two Words: Suck it" over a large X, which is apparently some sort of wrestling reference.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Kind of quiet this week; watched the E! Soup awards; expressed his appreciation for K-Pax, Where the Wild Things Are and Dragnet; responded to Ian's "Matt Damon" tweet with a quote I couldn't find the source for; and shared another picture of someone who might be a producer but he referred to as the "Dark Lord". I put that down as a Voldemort reference (old HP habits die hard, y'all) but I suppose it could have been a Dark Lord of the Sith, too.

Spencer: No tweets this week.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Also quiet this week; did share pictures of a funny Hallmark card, a FUCT demo CD and a picture of pre-split P!atD taken by Tom Conrad that he found while unpacking, and one of Steve McDonald sleeping. I'm not sure if that last one is Steve McDonald, bassist, who has worked with The White Stripes and Tenacious D or not, but I've put his name under music (general) just in case. There were also some Chilean earthquake-aid related tweets, and finally he appreciated a beautiful rainy day.

Spencer: No tweets at all this week.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Encouraged us all to buy the new Butch Walker record; made a Star Trek reference (to the Vulcan blessing "Live Long and Prosper"); quoted lyrics to "Defying Gravity" from Wicked; shared a picture of himself wearing an Oliver Twist hat and holding a keytar; joked with Pete about challenging Vickyt-T's keytar supremacy and looking great in heels; and also learned about vajazzaling (bedazzling of the ladybusiness), which, he would totally like that job, please. (LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, Oh, Brendon.) ETA: Also he has changed "Private Dancer" to "Soda Jerk" in his Twitter profile.

Spencer: Only surfaced long enough to retweet the Bananas Music club plug for Butch Walker's record/the first single ("Pretty Melody").
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Again urged us to vote for some friends-of-friends in a dream wedding contest; mentioned a couple of songs, one by Stars, the other by Sublime, and declared Valentine's Day "Listen to Nothing But Barry White" day with a reference to a Queen song; saw "PRENUP 1" as a vanity plate; went out for dinner and showed us a picture of what looked like a really good steak; discussed the Haitian earthquake with a Jehovah's Witness (I have to wonder if a) the JW knocked on his door and he answered, or b) it was a chance encounter) and, of course, made a short movie with Butch Walker in the style of American Psycho. He also referenced John Mayer's infamous Playboy interview and shared a link to a YouTube video of a Dean Martin and Phil Harris routine/song that is one of most hilarious, campiest things I have ever seen. I can only hope he was inspired, and the Universe will shortly be blessing us with the Brendon & Spencer show, in which they drink tea spiked with whiskey, call each other baby and sing random songs while trying not to crack up. It will be glorious, I am sure. Also: His icon is now the Devil/Angel manip that Shane made.

Spencer: Mentioned the new Yeadsayer record (Odd Blood), though not by name. Otherwise: too busy pretending to be dead for the cameras to tweet.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Watched a John C. Reilly movie, though he didn't say which one, and his exchange with Dallon didn't clarify matters (also: mousetrap and s'mores? what?), and then he and Spencer (and Shane, Zack, and Butch Walker) evidently had the most fun ever making a serial killer movie. He wrapped up with sharing a link to a wedding give-away contest on behalf of a friend of a friend.

Spencer: Too busy filming to tweet; only two this week, and both of them were wedding give-away related.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Lots of movies this week: Batman (1966), Whatever Works, The Shadow, Zombieland, Yes Man, and Orgazmo. (Brendon likes superheros/comic book characters a lot. Though I'd venture to say Batman is his favorite.) Also an aside about framing pictures of his favorite food. That was pretty much it, actually; kind of a quiet week for him, possibly due to whatever it is they were/are doing in the UK.

Spencer: Has probably seen Avatar; also quiet, again perhaps due to travel/mixing a record.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Went to a Julian Casablancas show, not sure if Knickerbockers were the openers or where he had dinner (suspect dinner); then they departed for the UK for unknown purposes (mixing at Abbey Road? exploring the theme of "terrible winter weather?). There was some back and forth with Zack about landing cards and pizza made by Jesus, he shared a picture of a drink, was good-natured about being teased about his alcohol-photographing habit, and then asked us to click on a Facebook/Chase Bank link to support Invisible Children.

Spencer: Teased us with the possibility of them Jersey Shore-ifying themselves (I would be horrified and amused. Horrimused? If this happened.), shared a picture of Brendon strumming a cello (and looking like a scruffy Clark Kent) and also shared the Invisible Children link.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
SPECIAL NOTE: LJ is being a pain and for some reason will not let me update Spencer's list. I somehow contrived to delete the original master-list entry (don't worry, I have the content) and am now trying to post a new, backdated entry. >:((((( LJ.

ETA: Okay, I got it to work, but I had to take most of the links out. Argh. The new masterlist is here. Sorry guys.

Brendon: Shared a link to a remake of the rap scene in Teen Witch; was sarcastic about Keanu Reeves' acting ability in Speed and Point Break; made several terrible puns about snow (while enroute to NYC where it was/is currently . . . not snowing, nor even all that cold); traded some airplane gossip with Spencer; congratulated Mark Hoppus on the song on the Alice soundtrack, hung out with Pete Wentz, and then quoted my all-time favorite Frank Sinatra song, New York, New York. It is the very best for Rockette-style high kicks while slightly drunk at parties. Usually weddings. Anyway, I really do hope they use a Sinatra song as their cover on the next tour.

Spencer: Back from Twitter vacation, yay!!!!, and evidently watched the wedding episode of The Office on the plane on the way to New York/New Jersey, where he and Brendon working with fun. He also shared a link to a video of the rap scene in Teen Witch, a picture of Brendon, and documented his encounter with an Ed Hardyfied beer bottles.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Re-tweeted Hayley Williams (Paramore) talking about Michael C. Hall/Dexter; congratulated Shane on breaking the shit out of his iPhone cover; quoted a Shania Twain lyric (evidently from a now-lost kareoke session, more's the pity); referenced MTV's Jersey Shore (again, ugh, that show is SO AWFUL); got a shout-out in a 10th dimension video; went to Red Robin for a meal; talked about doing short films with Dallon in response to a link Dallon shared to a video of himself (Dallon) and Ian talking about cables while standing in a shower stall, and, finally, the big news, seems to have gotten a new puppy!

Her name is Penny Lane and she is either a Boston Terrier or a black and white English Bulldog. (From the actual AKC webpage for English Bulldogs: "While good at alerting their owners to danger (Look! The UPS Guy is coming!), their main role is that of lap warmer."Awwwwwwww.)

Spencer: No updates this week.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Brendon: Had Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast (d'awwwwwwwwww) and watched some unnamed live comedy before celebrating NYE at "headquarters". (All I could think of was Batmobiles.)

Spencer: Is still maintaining radio silence.
