- Brendon and Dallon have Vines, now, and are both using them to be completely ridiculous.

- Spencer has a Vine as well but hasn't posted anything. Spencer is, generally speaking, Sphinx-like again.

- Panic is recording - still? again? - but there's been no hard news re: new record.

- Ryan has a Vine and is using it to post videos of his cat, and sometimes also his face. He posts the occasional studio picture - he seems to be working with Dan Keyes and Tom Oakes, but IDK if it is on their stuff or his. Again, no hard news re: record.

- I have no idea what JWalk is doing when he isn't nostalgia-trolling us because I've unsubscribed from his Twitter. (I fished the images in the previous post out of Tumblr in order to make a note for the record.)

I'm going to try and do weekly updates on everyone that isn't Jon now that I have free time again. (Kind of.) Are any of y'all still interested? Should I make a Tumblr and cross-post?
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
So today JWalk tweeted this:
picture )
That is a line from TYV's song Defiance; my reaction was mostly "oh, they were talking about a REAL BRIDGE?" followed by "ok, but where IS that real bridge?"

And then the TYV FB account (which I am presuming is . . . also Jon Walker, because it has been promoting Jon Walker's solo career lately) sprang to life after four months dormant and posted this:
second picture )
That is a line from TYV's song Dangerous Blues.

The dates, as presented, suggest the pictures were taken during the last Panic! tour before the split.

WTF, Jon Walker??

I mean I know the obvious answer is JWalk had a burst of nostalgia but . . . IDK the lyric choices seem especially pointed.

- Jon's animals have fleas. :( poor kitties & puppy.

- Ryan was, it seemed, rolling along pretty well with recording, but he hasn't mentioned anything about it for a while.

- He also seems to have style-shifted to jeans/leather jacket ('80s Lennon?).

- Other picture notes: one of himself wearing a sabretooth skull as a hat; one of him with Kate and some fake blood; a couple of him and Dan Keyes, including two from an oscar party; one of him, Dan Keyes and Ryland in an el camino; and one of him at a carwash. In the last one he's discovered how to use the effects buttons on Instagram, because there's a black bar over his eyes and an ostrich, a knocked over pill bottle, an icecream cone, and a small child pasted into the image.

- Finally, he asked The Internets when spring break was for LA high schools and colleges. The Internets was baffled by this query. He has not elaborated further.

- JJAMZ's record is OFFICIALLY FINISHED! Mastered and everything! Still no word about a release date, though.

- Keltie was informed (by a third party) of more of Ryan's misdeeds and has declared "he's dead to me." Uh. I guess that means they're not sharing the dog anymore? IDK.

- Brendon, Spencer and Dallon seem to back in the studio; Ian may or may not be with them, I'm not sure.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
- For those of you not subscribed to his/his wife's Tumblr, I think they are about halfway through their Costa Rican adventure.

- I currently have a nickel on them either a) never coming home or b) coming home for the summer and then going right back, possibly for good.

- He tweeted the following Thursday night: "and I'm not in panic at the disco anymore. and the young veins didn't work out. and climate change is a serious problem." Well. I guess that clears up any possible ambiguity on the TYV front.

- He is working on a record while in Costa Rica. He also made a video for Here for You which I suggest you watch with the sound off; the pictures are from their Costa Rican adventure and are very pretty.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
this is in no way a proper update, but I am noting here for the record the Brendon Urie announced his engagement on 9/19/11 with a Princess Bride reference, i.e. the "Mawwaige" speech.

Though I suppose technically Zack announced it the night before with his "he asked, she answered" tweet, which was purported (by him!) to be him trolling us with a movie quote. The source, if there is one, is somewhat drowned by fannish chatter, so if anyone knows what it is, pls holler.

Thus far, JWalk has had no comment (no surprise there; he didn't get or give any birthday greetings this year) and Ryan has only tweeted At a cry fair on the clown farm which . . . uh, okay, Mr. Ross. Right. Swapping the key phrases around, i.e. on a clown farm at the cry fair makes even less sense, so i think it was meant to be read as written.

Incidentally there is such a thing as a Clown Farm. It's in Alberta, Canada and seems to be very fancy clown school. There's also a Baby Huey (cartoon) episode called Clown On The Farm from, er, 1952, so maybe he's just noodling around YouTube.

Baby Huey, incidentally, is a duck in 1) a diaper 2) a bonnet and 3) a belly shirt.

Dallon, Ian and Spencer have also been quiet, but then again they are all in Indonesia.

**

On the subject of birthday greetings, they were exchanged between camps for both Ryan's birthday and Spencer's. Hilarious note: Ryan apparently still has the picture of Spencer wearing nothing but goggles/a snorkel.

Also, for Ryan's birthday, Keltie posted a picture of a tiny, tiny bb!Ryan in a karate outfit, and everyone teased Ryan gently about being an "old man". (At age 25. If he's old, I think I might be dead.)
sailorstkwrning: (Default)

Appreciated a song called "I'm stalkin' you", probably by Dante vs Zombies; was excited about a Nerves Tribute release party; wished a friend in Abe Vigoda (band, not dude) a happy birthday; watched Investigations into an Invisible World, noted even the president of Iceland believes in elves; noted that there was a lot of discussion of planetary alignment/2012 doomsday scenarios going around his work, and that he's really into "space emo" (WHAT?); was excited about a Black Apples CD review; various gig annoucements, one with Devon Williams one with the Black Apples one house party in a barn, band unknown; wished for booze while getting a haircut; congratulated a friend on being on TV; wondered why everyone he knows has a "shit ton" of cats in one household (Has Ryan become a cat farmer now too??); asked the universe to grant him an apartment he wanted; said "one thing at a time"; and then noted he didn't understand album leaks and he didn't remember TYV record ever leaking. (Oh, Nikolai, there's a reason for that . . .)
sailorstkwrning: (Default)

Ryan: Watched the Super Bowl, while engaging in whatever shenanigans "Phoenix afterparty" are code for, though he sounded irritated about it, so it may not be shenanigans he enjoyed; wrote a "victory song" for the Packers with Michael Runion and Alex Greenwald, aka RAM; RT'd JMont declaring the song "montage ready"; threw the making of the video for the song open to his followers; had a brief conversation with Jon Walker about the song, in which he said if it made Jon run faster it had served it's purpose; RT'd More Amore's mixtape annoucement, indicated they're old (a geriatric 25) and also old friends; did the dishes in shitkickers (cowboy boots with heels and pointy toes); wished a friend a happy birthday; Super Bowl Hero went on iTunes; and in his latest tweet (2/17), told someone "call him now, a points a point!"

As of today (2/24) he's been silent for an entire week.

Jon: Noted that dark matter is everywhere; posted a picture of himself shirtless in the ocean which later became his profile pic; shared a link to the Super Bowl Hero song with comments that it makes him run way faster and that he wished it was the Chicago Bears; shared a picture of his lunch; promoted Empires' new video and their bid for the cover of Rolling Stone; quoted Mark Twain on the subject of the world not owing anyone a living; wished us a Happy Valentine's Day with a link to the B-52s Rock Lobster on YouTube; asked what dreams are; canceled his television service (not going to lie, I made a small concerned noise when that one came up, even though I don't even WATCH tv); RT'd someone being snide about his reasons for doing so (apparently he thought it was funny, and that they had forgotten he takes pictures of dogs as well as cats); shared pictures of a darkened chess game and Marley with a ball; made a video in support of Empires, also featuring Marley; and finally made stew while listening to Brahms.

Since Jan. 16:

Ryan Was excited to attend a Lakers' game in Adam Levine's place; was shopping in the Vegas/West Coast equivalent of KMart (Mervyn's) on a Friday night; may have had a charleyhorse (muscle spasm); the phrase "Space Ham" appeared, which could be a) a play on Space Jam or b) a reference to an episode of Timon and Pumbaa (Disney cartoon) which was actually entitled Space Ham, or, and this is a stretch, c) be about Ham the Chimp astronaut from 1951; noted that nothing rhymes with vampire except maybe hampire, then later rejected all of Samantha Ronson's suggestions, including hampshire, liar and fire; wished Dan Keyes a happy birthday and shared a hilarious picture of Dan Keyes pouting while wearing bunny ears; "crack into the world, get your birth on!" - I got nothing. Unless it was someone else's birthday?;

quoted someone saying "Eat? I'll eat when I'm dead. Wait that's not how that goes" which I'm taking as a variation on "I'll sleep when I'm dead" and a reference to songs of the same title by either The Cure, Warren Zevon or Bon Jovi; participated in the awful cereal Twitter meme with "rosted mini meats. Honey bunches of toads? (with almonds)"; expressed his appreciation for The Cheesecake Factory and noted that they had tweeted him once; commiserated with Greta regarding their mutual despair at the survival of pop-punk (brb LOLING FOREVER); appreciated a piece of fan-made TYV merch; appreciated the score to You Only Live Twice, by John Barry, and finally, made the following comment on the appearance of nudes/wank tape stills purporting to be of him: "I couldn't afford to wear suits before I had tattoos. come on, you guys are better than that".

Jon Was silent for a while, then made a meta-tweet about thinking about tweeting and not getting around to it (cue me rolling my eyes); announced he was getting of this "big island"; quoted the "players only love you when they're playing" line from Dreams by Fleetwood Mac (there's a hip-hop song by Crazy Town with that title, but I'm assuming Fleetwood Mac until proven otherwise); went quiet again for a while, then sparked up to RT a fan comment about cats and beards reminding her of him, and also to share pictures from a sunny tropical locations of a sunset on the beach, a sunset on the water, and a stretch of coast that he has declared his "spot."
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Ok. So I guess we have to discuss the whole "hiatus" situation. This is how it stands currently:

1) Jon has announced it on his personal Twitter
2) Nick M. has confirmed it on his personal Tumblr
3) Ryan has said nothing, and no specific comment has been posted on any "official" band sites (FB, band Twitter, MySpace, band Tumblr) that I've seen.
4) Someone from the band (probably Nick) did, however, post a link to Jon's solo record on the TYV facebook wall on 1/6.

So I guess technically, or at least officially, we're in "hiatus? what hiatus?" territory, but I am nonetheless inclined to conclude that what we have is a) as much information as we will ever have and b) that information is as official as it is ever going to get and also c) if they aren't done, they are at least done for now. (Though, personal opinion, reading Jon's lyrics: I think he's done for good.)

I am, however, going to continue to keep up with them. And by "them" I mean, Ryan, Jon and Nick, but not Andy, because he gets on my very last nerve. If any of you are especially attached to him and would like the occasional report, comment now or forever hold your peace.

Since the last update (1/4)

Ryan: Commisserated with Will Noon about the problem of finding your glasses when you are not wearing them, and thus can't see; posted a picture of himself on a burro on a Mexican beach, captioned "Moving to Mexico I think"; otherwise, radio silence.

Jon: Shared a link to the video for Another Day, by Pomplamoose (YouTube); as discussed earlier, released his solo record on bandcamp; shared pictures of: his dog (outside and under the table); a house plant; an unfinished puzzle; and his drum set; and confirmed he's growing a beard. Also changed his Twitter icon to a black and white photo of himself giving the camera an, I don't know, an affectionate look? Maybe? Less subdued than his last picture, anyway.

I have more to catch up on w/ Nick, so I'll get to him later.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
misc updates:

- Benjamin Font's audiobook thing has been fully funded.

- Jon Walker will be releasing his Home Recordings soon; appreciates Chuck Klosterman; and has announced "manscaping" as Term of the Day for 1/4/11 (I'm kind of dizzy with tired right now and find this hilarious, and also am wondering if he was watching Keltie on The Bachelor; another contestant who is a professional aesthetician brought it up (and brought her waxing tools to the first night!); and "online baby rumor" as a Phrase of the Day for 1/3. (Am now also wondering if someone has told him about the Spencer's Secret Baby thing? STOP GOOGLING YOUR (FORMER) BANDMATES, JWALK.)

- also, y'all, can I just tell you that The Bachelor makes my skin crawl? Because it does. DEAR EVERYONE INVOLVED: YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FIND A SPOUSE IN EIGHT WEEKS AS PART OF A TELEVISION CONTEST. The whole thing is just so revolting and weird and reinforces terrible behaviors, mainly in-fighting between the ladies over the man.

Keltie gets a little bit of that, actually, towards the end; she's being her usual ridiculous/awkward self and teaching him Rockette kicks and meanwhile a brace of other contestants are making disapproving faces and quasi-snide commentary and pretty clearly judging her kind of hard, and I am all >>>>>>>>>>>>:( because while I will acknowledge she's awkward, what she's doing isn't inappropriate at all.

(and now all of you can LOL DEFENSIVE KELTIE-WIFE at me. I know, I know, I just think the whole genre of spouse-contest reality shows are unpleasant and reward a kind of feminine submissiveness that I find deeply disquieting.)

- Meanwhile, in other news, Ryan surfaced after a long silence to share a picture of his face with a big red kissy-lips on his cheek; was excited that the Space Jam website still exists, untouched, after 15 years (holding it down Geocities style, too, it is AMAZING, and you know what, THE WHOLE INTERNET USED TO LOOK LIKE THAT. ON PURPOSE); and also had conversation with a friend / made a tweet suggesting that he (Ryan) was bitten by a "poisonous" feral cat. Dear Ryan Ross: perhaps your New Year's resolution should be: Avoid further serious injury?
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Since Dec.1:

Noted that science never sleeps; was jealous of the weather in California; had "the sneeze"; shared a picture of his laptop, caption "in the lab"; asked his Twitter team to change their icon as he is trying to put his emo past behind him (oh, Jwalk, that is a losing battle); pictures: snowy Illinois landscape and Marley with a new bone; video of Therapies Son - Rose Red Rose (YouTube), also HELLO GIANT EYEBALL; quoted Dazed and Confused; asked our opinion of a photo for the purpose of an album cover (Internet: That's cute! also, WHAT??); apparently searched Twitter on Wikipedia and determined it (Twitter) was weird; asked if we wanted to see more or less pictures of his animals (Internet: YES!!!); pictures: grimy ancient Winnebago and Marley in the snow; commented that he had just seen the weather in Hawaii; shared a picture of his rubber plant; informed us the last thing he'd googled was "beard tips";

noted he was trying to get an interview with Guy Ripley; noted that Beatles tribute band "Rain" was killing it on the radio; expressed a Christmas wish for world peace; dropped the hiatus bomb; asked the internet to change his Wikipedia picture (oh, that didn't go well, did it, JWalk?); shared the link to his new Facebook page; commented that Miley [Cyrus] is a mess (post salvia-smoking incident); picture of people making gingerbread houses; wished Jon Hogan (seems to be a roots/Americana singer from Texas?) a happy birthday;

noted that we're stuck on the earth but it's not a tragedy (may or may not be his own lyrics); quoted the Burts' Bees advertising slogan; possibly went skiing; told us to "wag more, bark less"; picture of Cassie reading a book; quoted lyrics of the theme song from Craig Ferguson show; appreciated being able to see the moon during the day; quoted Cassie appreciating a Snuggie; told us dinner at his house was likely to involve dog hair in our food (ergh); RT'd Will Noon pretending (?) to invite himself into the recently decimated Paramore; picture of animals waiting for breakfast outside of his bedroom; has written a song about his beard (oh, dear); and finally, Tom Conrad's picture of bb!Panic with the "great entertainment with a view" internal caption in which they all pretty much look miserable and annoyed and not-attractive.

All things considered, this was standard JWalk burbling non-sequitours and posting cute pictures mixed with the occasional piece of minorly explosive news. So, it looks like a solo effort is in the works; now I suppose we wait and see what happens.

Since Dec. 1:

Asked a friend why "why90srocked" was a trending topic; either wanted to lick someone's heart or overheard someone making the comment; had some hockey-related difficulties, which may have included not being able to practice and may also have included injuring himself (not sure if "so far this friday night isn't going so good for Muscle Bones." (12/4) is a reference to the broken finger); promoted Benjamin Font's audiobook; made an allegory between everything going downhill after 1973 and his own tweets about to do the same now that he had made 1,973 of them; took it back, observing "1985" was a good song by Paul McCartney; was amused by Criss Angel and then bummed out that no-one had called him in 24 hours, and also hungry; discussed food and his broken finger with Samantha Ronson; asked the internet about the origin of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon (and made me feel 300 years old in the process);

decided his evil twin was '80s Christian Slater (you WISH, Ryan Ross) and then took some shit from one of his friends for it; teased us with a picture of a red-socked ankle (I suspect it was Greenwald's); participated in that GOD AWFUL ARRRGHHH HATE "fat indie bands" Twitter meme; attended an LA Kings Hockey game; had a good morning and a bad night; shared that sandwiches are his favorite food; asked about Blood Ninja (as previously noted: used to engage strangers on IRC in sexy chat, deliberately cause it to go horribly and hilariously wrong, and then post transcripts); made the comment about "next"-ing people;

admired Agyness Deyn's dog; told Will Noon that suits will make him look like he has his shit together even if he doesn't; "by the leg, to the lair!" and "By the hair, to the lake!" - I just have no idea. Supervillains disposing of their evil misdeeds?; told the Bad Rabbits that he missed them too; and finally RT'd Jason Boesel's comment about prom.

Things he didn't discuss: Jon's hiatus comment and apparent move towards a solo career. (I do wonder if the broken finger plays a role in this somewhat puzzling silence - he is tweeting but not as much as usual.)
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
briefly:

1. Nick Murray posted to his personal Tumblr confirming the hiatus (I keep wanting to type "split" there) on Friday night, but so far no comments has appeared on any offical TYV spaces, and Ryan has not yet directly acknowledged anything unusual is going on. He did go to a hockey game, though, and also mentioned Blood Ninja, who it turns out was an old-school IRC prankster who used to have epically faily cyber-sex with people and then share the transcripts. Also, at some point in the last week or two, Ryan broke one of his fingers, which may or may not have anything to do with his relative Twitter silence.

2. And because I got a question about this one this morning - Ryan said: "Jesus I'm gonna next some People I follow real soon this is bullshit lately."

It looks like gibberish, but it isn't. "Next"-ing people comes from speed-dating, wherein you meet with prospective partners for 3 minutes each. The implied "joke" is about someone hollering "NEXT!" when they encounter someone they know they don't like in the first 30 seconds. It's also a Chat Roulette reference.

3. Jon's comment about going to a mountain is probably about skiing, which is something he's tweeted about before. Also he's changed his icon again, and is now using the same one as is on his Facebook page.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Changed my mind, Ryan Rossy gets his own post.

So, he: shared an actually terrifying video that Vicky-T inflicted upon him; had some conversations with Brendon; also did some Halloween stuff (haunted Hayride in Griffith Park, with Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, of all people); either expressed his cluelessness about pussywillows or heard someone else doing so; washed his hair with bubblebath; was Atreyu (Neverending Story) for Halloween (Z was The Childlike Empress!); later informed the internet that his plans for the day were "I'm gonna feed you, rip off those jeans, and take you to the hospital" (?!); was possibly sarcastic being interested in the fortunes of the (I'm assuming, since he didn't specify)) San Francisco Giants (baseball); asked Greenwald if he (Greenwald) thought it was weird that he (Greenwald) sang like the guy from Spin Doctors (no he does not, Ryan); appreciated Michael Ian Black's tweets about George Lopez; hung out with the Bad Rabbits;

announced that from now on he would go by "Dingus Khan", a nickname bestowed by a friend who I think might be also known as Benjamin Font; shared a picture of a "remix" knob; RT'd Nick Murray promoting the Black Apples; told a different friend he (Ryan) wished he (the friend) would wear bell bottoms all the time; discovered he loved reality TV; rediscovered his love for hockey; told Benjamin Font to stop being emo it was making him sad (STILL HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS, YOU GUYS); clarified that by "reality tv" he meant Billy the Exterminator and Ancient Aliens; commiserated with HarMarSuperStar about daylight savings time totally eliminating sunlight from his day; apparently researched the secret photos of serial killers;

discussed malls with a friend; quoted Z comparing herself to Tupac; was surprised he was a trending topic, shared a picture of himself and a friend in hockey gear; expressed his distaste for the Facebook sound; appreciated apple juice; sneezed so hard he lost his sunglasses; was excited about the Beatles being on iTunes and "boomshakalaka" being a trending topic; appreciated Shane and Dallon's Doritos commercial; reposted the Daytrotter link; combined a reference to Saber Toothed cats and (I'm guessing) Tish Cyrus (as in, the ultimate cougar, maybe? It was around the time the news of her possible affair with Bret Michaels was in the headlines);

waffled about ordering pizza the day before Thanksgiving; was pleased the Deluxe Package postcards were getting to people; had a great many FEELINGS about soup, sandwiches and fast food (he doesn't like Subway, or McDonalds); invited a friend to join himself and Greenwald in having soup & sandwiches and watching TV in bed (I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP, Y'ALL); said something about not doing shots and compared a girl to Brendon Fraser in Encino Man; narrowly avoided spoiling his dinner with pretzels; and was kind of grumpy about other people not appreciating Change.

Also happening during this period: Keltie's book came out.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
NOTE: I'll edit Ryan and The Like into this post tomorrow!

Andy: Lost his Spinal Tap VHS tape (?!); attended a Republic of Lights record release show, where Suns were also playing (RoL is his old band, Suns are apparently friends) and had a rough day, got a cold and needed soup.

Nick: You know what Nick Murray loves? HALLOWEEN. Also, Halloween and horror movies and videos. Mentioned or linked: Tim Curry in The Worst Witch (YouTube); Halloween Punch (YouTube); Joe Dante's MANT! part 1 (YouTube); The Curse of the Werewolf; 100 kills / final destination 2; Night of the Creeps, Monster Squad, Black Sunday, Night of the Living Dead; and also Footloose (1984) Kevin Bacon dance in the fast food with shalamar (YouTube) in the context of hoping his Halloween would be like that just with more werewolf masks, booze and fog machines, and finally, Oh My God! Dogs in Halloween Costumes. Get Your Puppy Website (YouTube). Also, he wants to bring back late-night horror TV complete with hosts, he bought a fog machine on the grounds he'd re-use it, re-uploaded his most excellent Halloween mix a couple of times, William Castle and Mario Bava gave him insomnia; and thinks Halloween should be a national holiday. Nick Murray is DEDICATED to sp00ky, creepy, slimy and scary motion, you guys. And I totally, totally love him for it.

Also discussed the general decline of Western civilization; that "Social services, dmv, and cubicles, these are not places human beings are meant to spend time in"; looked for cheap/free things to do in LA; had a moment of clarity at very early in the morning; various promotional tweets for the new Black Apples record and some shows; shared the TYV Daytrotter link; supported the movement to save CA's state parks; quoted a reality TV line about needing sleep; shared a link to This Is How Michael Caine Speaks - The Trip - BBC Two (YouTube) and also La Sera - Never Come Around (YouTube);

wanted to be underwater; was unimpressed with The Beatles iTunes debut; encouraged us to opt-out of the new airport scanners; was sick and annoyed by construction; lost his voice and was subjected to Chris Cornell's new record as a result; conducted a Food Experiment and made a magnificent Thanksgiving Cake out of mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey, sweet potatoes and stuffing; and thoroughly enjoyed his birthday (Nov. 29).
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Jon: Was monosyllabic ("cosmic") and/or fragmentary ("limitless undying love") and/or fragmentary and possibly disapproving ("wow" and a link to It's Almost Halloween video on the FBR channel); told us to retire the television, and then there was this MASSIVE BURST OF INFORMATION in which he told us he'd been working on demos for a week, noted his mother's birthday dinner, and announced he was going to New York, all in one tweet. Then he was back to monosyllabic fragments again, wherein he was excited about science; had a pop (soda! it's soda!) while waiting for Conan; had Creed thoughts (AUUUUUUUUUGH NOOOOOOOOOOO); noted that the weather was making his animal family crazy; quoted Billy Madison; shared a picture of his dog; told us only to spend money on things we REALLY need; expressed his appreciation for Christmas music; may have taken the bus to New York (all he said was MEGABUS); shared a picture of breakfast time in a New York diner; shared a picture of all of his pets and called them his songwriting audience; asked who owns jonwalker.com and "what do you want for it" and then finished up with a picture of his "home recording studio".

So, let's revisit some of that:

1) demos, which no-one else has mentioned or commented on

2) the visit to New York, home of their label

3) rumblings of personal website

4) home recording studio

and, add to that:

He and Ryan used to do publicity more or less together, but Jon hasn't participated in any publicity for The Young Veins since more or less the end of the last tour, not even to RT the links to the list of missing gear, the Daytrotter session or their video premier; both MTV and their label only tweeted the video links to Ryan and the general band twitter; and he is still not following any of his bandmates (or anyone else.)

Even allowing for a certain amount of LOL TWITTER, all I can say is: HMMMMMMMM.
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Panic! at the Disco

Spencer remains a sexy sphinx; Brendon noted his 100,000+ followers (a huge jump from where he was earlier this summer!); may possibly have had to look up "incorrigible" (he didn't quite use it properly in context); seemed to be pleased it was raining; and his best girl beat him at Wii bowling, which he attributed to her wearing bowling shoes while playing. (They are so ridiculous and adorable. ♥Brendon & Sarah♥)

The Like

Went out on their West Coast mini-tour - in addition to various show announcements, there was some wordplay with fans and also Hunter Burgan of AFI (!), a note about listening to the Beach Boys, a comment about being able to fry an egg in the van, and finally a tweet about Annie learning French and Z sleeping while the others drove/DJ'd that later got deleted. They also shared a picture of some fans; asked for shopping advice in Portland; shared three videos from their ICA (London) performance; wished both John Lennon and Alex Greenwald a happy birthday; shared a picture from a Kate Spade party they apparently went to/played at; departed on their mini-European tour; shared a blog post full of pictures from the Paris show; rode in a water taxi in Rotterdam & have video to prove it (Z's expression at the end is really funny); hung out with an elephant in Hamburg; someone's (Z's?) inner 12 yr old was ecstatic to be at at Nickleodeon with slime and later playing a show with Jamiroquai; shared a Kate Spade video; and finally noted the passing of Ari Up (The Slits) with sadness.

NB: There was also tweet with a link to blog post I think from Brussels, that was in French, which they seem to have since deleted. When I read it, the review was positive towards them but - and this is based on a somewhat fractured Google translation - did seem to have a kind of strange, gross undertone of "if you don't like them you must be gay" which may or may not be why they deleted it.

The Young Veins )
sailorstkwrning: (Default)
Panic:

Brendon: Would love to believe in life on Mars, and so maybe he will; also he is looking forward to the Rally to Restore Sanity.

Spencer: Has no thoughts that he wishes to share with the Internets at this time.

The Young Veins:

Jon goes first this week, since he has the most exciting news! I (and the rest of the Internet) am taking that "engaged!" to mean "to be married." Woooo! Congratulations, Mr. Walker. He also noted the 5 year anniversary of A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, though, strangely, not the release of the video for Take a Vacation. Further Twitter-related data points: both MTV Buzzworthy and OneHaven tweeted video-related news solely to Ryan and the band twitter; I have a suspicion that the band twitter is run by Nick Murray.

Ryan on the other hand, made no mention of Fever at all, but did RT the band twitter and MTV's tweets about the video and (as it turned out) his solo appearance on Subterranean. Also noted that having an immortal enemy was way worse than having a mortal enemy; complained about the long lasting effects of Tylenol PM; recommended Who is Harry Nilsson? (movie); noted that the B-52s sang the theme song for Rocko's Modern Life (Nickelodean cartoon, 1993-1996); asked the internet what constituted a "floppy appearance", but didn't specify what it was that was supposed to appear floppy; RT'd a comment from Ponytail Groovin' about them both being from the same part of the wrong side of the tracks (so maybe PG isn't Greenwald?); shared that his iPhone corrects "bonehead" to "vinegars" and was possibly puzzled that it was vinegars, plural;

shared a picture of the beach followed by a RT of CNN's story about LA's record high temperature; was puzzled by the popularity of the martini glass on the grounds that it looks like a plate (what martini glasses have you been drinking out of, Ryan??); bit a baby on the head (the following exchange with a friend suggests baby = puppy, in this case, which may or may not be related to the "floppy appearance" query); wished people only had 140 characters in real life; wasn't sure if he'd rather go to a The Like show or watch a new episode of Tosh.0 (he later showed up in the picture TL shared from the casino); had some beef jerky in Baker; and narrowly missed rescuing Shane Valdes from waiting by the side of the road for a towtruck. The tow truck discussion included a reference to Adventures in Babysitting by Shane and the hook-hand killer urban legend by Ryan.

Andy: Went out Trick or Treating (already?) and asked the internet what curfew was supposed to be while noting that he knew he had to be home by the time the street lights were on.

Nick: Wished another fan a happy birthday; offered to trade a present to whoever could get him into Knott's Scary Farm for free; was possibly mildly annoyed that he's been into alien disclosures lately; saw Pavement and Sonic Youth and remembered why he grew out of Pavement at 17 but felt Sonic Youth's set was too short; rt'd his other band's (Black Apples) appearance in a Pepsi commercial though he had to work the morning it was shot; and finally wanted to beat the heat by sitting in a nice cold air conditioned theater and watching horror movies.

The Like: Took in a Daria (cartoon, MTV, 1997-2002) marathon on the Logo network; Z got her stitches out at her pediatrician's office; various West Coast tour related announcements; shared a link to their interview with Nemone at BBC6; also rt'd the CNN headline about the heatwave; RT'd comic Jordan Rubin's comment about Mad Men, 1980s-style; drove through the Mojave listening to Bowie; Annie got 21 at blackjack her first time in Vegas, ; Wishing He Was Dead appeared in the 9/30 episode of Gray's Anatomy; and finally RT'd two pieces of fan art which were renditions of themselves as The Beatles.

Panic!: Brendon was very excited about football; Spencer continues his Silent Bob impression.

Related news: Per Zack's twitter, the three of them apparently had dinner with Ryan!! We were not, however, granted a reprise of The Picture (Now With Spencer). The picture we did get was of a horribly tacky novelty item involving a pun on the name of Martin Luther King Jr. I am unsure what, if any, information should be inferred from it. I'm currently leaning towards "none, also, ew."

The Like: Played the Inverted World and the the Old Queen's Head, and then Z concluded the tour by falling down some stairs and cutting her chin open, needing seven (!) stitches. She shared pictures of the stitching process AND the final closed cut which, YIKES, and also wryly noted her eye make-up had survived the escapade intact. Someone heard "Walk of Shame" in TopShop; they shared a before-fall picture of Z with a stylized cartoon of, I think, Twiggy, and Z rt'd a fan drawing of a stylized "baby" Z with a big bow on her head, noting that it was awesome but the artist had forgotten to include her injured chin.

Brendon: Thanked Polish fans for their video "thank you" to the band for playing at Coke Fest and rt'd Dallon sharing a link to an Inception-themed cat video. I haven't seen the movie so I have no idea what any of it is supposed to mean. But there's a comically wide-eyed cat and dramatic music, so it's not a painful two minutes, or whatever.

Spencer: Completed two full months of radio silence.

The Like: Assorted promotional and show related chatter, including a reminder that the Birmingham show was cancelled; shared links to their Reading/Leeds interview and live conversation on BBC 6Music (today). The biggest news was probably that the opener for their Brighton show was Johnny Borrell of Razorlight's new band. They didn't give a name, and the one show report I read said 1) the name isn't known, 2) the new band sounds like "Americana with Beck influences" and finally 3) the band members who were not Johnny Borrell came out in vests and cowboy hats. All I can wonder is if "He's Not a Boy" is actually about Borrell and if so, if it was at all awkward playing it with him right there.
